Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Polskie Linie Lotnicze LOT (PLL LOT), the Polish national airline, is to cut 250 jobs by the end of 2009. The redundancies will affect office and administrative personnel and technicians working at the domestic airports in Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Katowice, Krakow, Poznań, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Warsaw, and Wrocław.
In May 2009, the directors of PLL LOT will present to the trade unions a plan for reducing employment at the airline by 1,000 jobs instead of earlier planned 250. PLL LOT currently employs 7,000 people.
