Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Pliva-Lachema, one of the leading Czech pharmaceutical producers, has announced that it plans to cut 100 jobs out of 650 by the end of 2009. The workforce reduction is due to a recent acquisition of the mother American Group Barr Pharmaceuticals by Israeli company Teva Pharmaceutical occurred in December 2008. The company said it would close its production of solid pharmaceutical forms and restrict research activities.
