WS Atkins, an engineering firm, is to cut 260 jobs at Epsom in Surrey. The cuts come as part of a wider job cutting programme by the company, which is seeking to reduce its global headcount by 1,000 from 18,000. The jobs are being cut as a result of the economic downturn although, as of 15 February 2009, no announcement has been made as to when these jobs will be cut, or how many jobs will remain in the UK.
