US medical devices multinational Boston Scientific has announced that it is to close its County Donegal plant in 2010, with the loss of 120 jobs. The company has said that most of the manufacturing now being carried out at the Donegal site in Letterkenny would be moved to its Galway plant. The closure is part of a restructuring review of Boston's subsidiaries in Ireland. The multinational presently employs approximately 4500 in Ireland. It is understood that some positions will be available at the Galway site for those losing their job in Donegal - just how many is not yet clear.
