Description

Irish airline Ryanair has announced 100 redundancies at Shannon airport. The redundancies will mean that a number of routes to and from Shannon will be cut, and the 100 jobs will be relocated to other Ryanair bases. The company has blamed the Irish Government's air travel tax for the announcement.

However, it has emerged that the Shannon Airport Authority (SAA) may seek financial compensation of up to €2 million from Ryanair for breaching the terms of a five-year agreement on airport passenger charges that is not due to expire until the end of April 2010.
