Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Bombardier Aerospace, a Canadian firm manufacturing aircrafts, is to cut 300 jobs at its Belfast site. The job losses are blamed on falling demand and amount to one third of the company's subcontractors. The 5,300 permanent staff at the plant will remain unaffected. The company announced that the cuts will occur 'within the next few months', but as of 6 February 2009 there is no further information.
