Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Philips, which produces lighting equipment, is to cut 199 jobs from its plant in Eindhoven, it announced on the 4th February 2009. 183 jobs will be cut from the head office of the lighting division and 16 jobs will be cut from the Eindhoven production site for LED-lamps. The cuts are part of a worldwide restructuring operation announced in January, which will result in the loss of 6,000 jobs in total worldwide.
