Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hewlett-Packard, a computer manufacturer, is to cut 153 jobs at its site in Renfrewshire. The cuts will occur on 27 February 2009 when the manufacturing night shift comes to an end. The job losses were deemed essential in order for the company to remain competitive.
