Sofa Workshop, a furniture retailer, has made 120 of its workforce redundant. The company had gone into administration on 22 January 2009 and the administrators found a buyer only for 10 of its 30 stores across the UK. The rest 20 stores and the head office of the company have been closed with immediate effect. The company employed 170 staff, 50 of whom will remain employed under the new owner.
