Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In an interview with the newspaper VG, the communication manager of the electrical goods retailer Elkjøp announced that it is to cut 120 to 130 jobs. Of these 90 are full-time positions. The reason behind this move is the need to cut costs due to reduced sales. Department stores all over the country will be affected.
The chief shop steward says to the newspaper that the process is done properly. He also says that those who become redundant, will be offered training opportunities in order to find new jobs.
As of January 2009, there is no information on when the job losses will occur; however, the dismissal notices have already been handed out to some employees.
