Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
At the Gdynia shipyard (Stocznia Gdynia), 1,500 employees (out of a total workforce of 4,500) agreed to terminate their employment relations by the end of April 2009. The voluntary redundancy programme offer severance payments between PLN 20,000 and PLN 60,000. However, the scale of redundancies turned out to be larger than originally announced. As of May 2009, about 3,350 workers were dismissed from Stocznia Gdynia.
