Description
The British luxury clothing brand Burberry has announced the closure of Thomas Burberry España line (made primarily for the Spanish market) with the loss of 250 jobs at its plant in Barcelona. The company has also announced the closure of other plants in the UK resulting in 290 redundancies (see related fact sheet). The Spanish authorities had applied for aid from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF).
On 3th March 2010 the company confirmed the complete closure of the unit in Spain as of March 2011, resulting in the dismissal of all 294 workers.
