Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Pfizer, a pharmaceutical firm, is to cut 240 jobs from its UK research staff. The jobs are based at Sandwich in Kent, and the cuts are part of the company’s plans to reduce costs. The company intends to make the redundancies from its team of 800 scientists within the next three months.
