Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Alha Airport, the main cargo handler in Milan, is to cut 120 to 150 jobs at the Milan Malpensa International Airport. The company has taken this decision in consequence of the closure of the cargo activity by the new Alitalia. Alitalia was the main customer of Alha Airport at the Malpensa airport.
The trade unions reacted to the company's decision by going out on strike and involving the national and local authorities in order to find adequate measures to relaunch the Malpensa airport's activities (cargo and passengers), after that the new owners of Alitalia decided the 'dehubbing' of the Malpensa airport.
Alha Airport is the biggest cargo handler in Italy. The company operates in Milan Malpensa International Airport since 1997 and handles 70% of the whole freight in the airport, with 300 persons of staff.
