Description

On 29 January 2009, Boeing, the world´s leading aerospace company, announced that its previously announced job cuts will be more drastic affecting 10,000 workers (instead of 4,500) throughout 2009. The restructuring is a part of an effort to ensure competitiveness and control costs in the face of a weakening global economy. Even as the company makes plans to downsize, it is expecting to keep engineers and assembly-line staff on the job. The cuts in the commercial plane unit are expected to fall largely on support and administrative staff. Boeing currently employs more than 160,000 people worldwide.
