Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The large Danish shipowner A. P. Møller-Maersk has announced that it is to cut 100 jobs at the headquarters in Copenhagen as part of a restructuring plan. Maersk will split the headquarters into two units, a Corporate Centre and Service functions. The reorganisation will be completed by the end of January 2009 and it is expected that 730 employees will remain at the headquarters. During the next weeks the management and the empoyees' representatives will discuss a plan for the redundancies including possible compensations.
