Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
ArcelorMittal Ostrava, a subsidiary of the world's largest steel producer, has announced up to 350 job cuts out of a total 10,300 jobs in the Czech due to the global financial crisis. About 264 jobs will be lost at the Ostrava site while the remainder of the job losses will occur in other Czech sites. Employees in administrative-related functions will be the most affected by the restructuring. The company has already prepared a package of social and financial aid for laid-off workers. Those workers who leave the company on voluntary basis will be given up to 12 average monthly wages. There is no information on when the job cuts are to be implemented by. Republic
