Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sanmina-SCI Magyarország Kft. is planning to lay off 400 of its employees at its Tatabánya site, index.hu reported relying on information from company sources. Headquartered in San Jose, California, Sanmina-SCI is a leading Electronics Manufacturing Services provider focused on delivering complete end-to-end manufacturing capabilities and solutions to technology companies around the world. The company's three Hungarian sites in Miskolc, Tatabánya and Székesfehérvár employ altogether 2300 people. The Tatabánya site offers the full range of manufacturing and repair services for both PCB assembly and for full systems assembly and test. Other services offered include test software & hardware development, warranty & repair services, distribution, parts localization support and local customs services. News of restructuring came as a surprise after previous announced plans to build a new manufacturing facility and hire additional workforce.
