Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The steel manufactuer ArcelorMittal is about to cut around 800 jobs in its Belgian plants. 14,870 workers are currently employed by the group in Belgium. The jobs concerned by the restructuring are in the administrative and commercial units. No direct dismissals will take place. The group will instead encourage dismissals on a voluntary basis and pre-retirement processes for the three years. ArcelorMittal had announced in the end of November, a major restructuring process that will concern about 9,000 employees worldwide in response to the economic slowdown.
