Description
After the acquisition of the regional newspaper Oberösterreichische Rundschau by the Moser Holding, around 100 of currently 250 employees of the weekly paper stand to lose their job by January 2009. The Tyrolia-based Moser Holding, Austria’s fourth largest media enterprise in terms of turnover, with a workforce of some 1,300 employees, plans to convert the traditional Oberösterreichische Rundschau into a free weekly newspaper. This was released by the Austrian Broadcasting Company (ORF) on 10 November 2008, and confirmed by the newspaper Der Standard on 16 December 2008. A social plan for the workers affected by the planned dismissals - most of them employed at the headquarters in Linz - has already been worked out.
