Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Chemlon, a Slovak manufacturer of polyamide fibres in Humenne, has revised the number of employees to be dismissed to 150. The announcement, made in January 2009, follows its original announcement that it would dismiss 200 employees by the end of March 2009. Most of the employees to be made redundant are blue-collar workers. The company has attributed the job cuts to to the decline of some branches of the industry, e.g. tyre production.
