Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Rhodia, a world leader in the development and production of specialty chemicals, is to close its plant at Ceriano Laghetto (in the province of Milan), with the loss of 228 jobs. The closure results from a broad reorganisation plan of the Rhodia nylon production in Europe.
The trade unions reacted to the company’s decision by going on strike and organising several industrial actions with a view to involving both the local and the national authorities.
Rhodia has 68 sites and around 15,000 employees worldwide.
