Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Rezidor Hotels Norway that runs the Radisson SAS hotels announced that it is to cut 155 full-time jobs in the next months. The reason of this decision is a fall in sales due to the general financial crisis.
120 full-time equivalents (FTE) will be reduced within the hotels run by Rezidor Hotels Norway, 29 FTE will be reduced within hotels on "management contracts" and 6 FTE within support functions.
The restructuring will be done in cooperation with the union. The Nordic manager, Christian Hartmann, said that the company aims to avoid dismissals of permanent employees. As of December 2008 there is no further information on the timescale of the restructuring. The management also suggests reducing the paid time for the chief shop steward, Roy Svartsund, for union activities. This proposal is not welcomed by the union.
