Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
A US-owned internet based retail operator, CSN Stores has announced 200 new jobs in Galway. CSN Stores will locate its Emea (Europe, Middle East and Africa) headquarters in the west of Ireland. CSN proposes to phase in the 200 new jobs over a three year period, commencing in December 2008.
The operation will specialise in multilingual customer service, IT, localisation, finance, HR and sales & marketing functions; and will mainly provide CSN’s European customers with voice and email support services.
Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív said CSN's decision to set up in Galway would enhance Ireland’s profile as a leading location for Internet service companies in Europe. "The company will be a significant employer in the West of Ireland hiring third level graduates in IT, software engineering, localisation, finance and multilingual customer support and will contribute to the further development and attractiveness of the Region as a location for additional investment," he said.
