Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finndomo, manufacturers of wooden housing and sheds, will lay off 100 employees in Sweden. This is their third redundancy announcement this year. They are downsizing their workforce due to declining demand for housing. The company is adjusting its production volume, reducing it by 50%, based on a prognosis from the business organisation for wooden houses and furnitures. The Finndomo group has 1,100 employees at nine units; four of them are located in Sweden with a total of 410 employees. Finndomo is the largest manufacturer of small houses in the Nordic countries with a turnover of €215 million.
