Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 20 November 2008, the car seat manufacturer Keiper announced to cut up to 900 jobs by 2014. The new restructuring scheme is twofold: Firstly, the company reorganises its administration units located close to its headquarter in Kaiserslautern (Rhineland-Palatinate). Secondly, parts of the seat production will be offshored to Poland. The company currently employs around 2,800 employees in Germany.
