Description
BAe Systems, a company that operates in the defence sector, has announced that it is to cut 200 jobs across its UK sites. The cuts will affect the sites at Leeds, Newcastle, Leicester, Barrow and Telford. The company attributed the job losses to reduced spending from the Ministry of Defence. As of 23 November 2008, it is not known when these jobs will be lost, or how many of the company’s 97500 worldwide employees work at these sites, although the company has already set up a voluntary redundancy programme.
