Description
Norisol, a Danish group with expertise in the fields of insulation, scaffolding, and surface treatment, has announced the loss of 102 jobs. Layoff notices were sent to 50 employees on 31 October and another 52 employees would receive layoff notice in November. According to the management, the job losses are due to the lack of new contracts and the termination of a large project for the shutdown and removal of the Frigg gas field in December.
The trade union expressed dissatisfaction with the company’s decision to layoff 102 employees. Following negotiations between the trade union and the management in November, it was decided that the next 50 redundancies will be seniority-based. The company has employed many workers recently, and according to the union, some of the redundant workers have only been employed for a month.
Norisol has about 1,500 employees in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. The unit affected by the restructuring in Norway employs 450.
