Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Tayto Group, a snack food manufacturer, has announced the closure of its Red Mill Snack Foods crisp factory at Wednesbury (in the West Midlands) with the loss of 300 jobs. The company stated that the closure came as a result of Proctor and Gamble withdrawing their Pringles Minis range, which is made at the company’s site in Corby, Northamptonshire. Production of other products will move from Wednesbury to Corby at the start of next year, and this transfer will take until 2010 to complete, when the factory will be closed.
