Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Hurtigruten,a Norwegian Coastal Voyage Group, has announced that it is to cut 200 jobs by the end of 2009. 80 jobs will be lost in Norway, while the remainder job losses will occur at several sales offices around the world.
Hurtigruten's management has been grappling with severe economic difficulties for long time. On 8th October 2008, the Board decided to cut annual costs by NOK 150 Million. The chief shop steward said after the announcement that she expects the cuts to be spread evenly throughout the organisation, also at the management level.
