Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
One of the biggest companies in Klaipėda, Yazaki Wiring Technologies Lietuva, producing wires for Renault, is experiencing some difficulties because of decreased orders of production. The company employs 950 employees and most of them work every second week at the moment. Decreased demand for production caused the loss of 100 employees during the months of September and October, 2008. According to the administration, employees haven’t been directly dismissed but they left the company under mutual agreement.
