Karlovy Vary-based company Karlovarský porcelán, a Czech porcelain products manufacturer, was facing bankruptcy in October 2008 and about 1,540 employees were to lose their job . All employees were receiving only 70% of their wages. On 9 April 2009, it was reported that Hengis, a new owner of the company since March 2009, is to save up to 450 jobs. The production will be restarted in May 2009.
