Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, has announced that NXP France, the French electronics company, is to axe the jobs of 450 employees in France:
In the site of Caen, it is foreseen that 373 jobs will be cut; (out of which 280 will be lost within the framework of the announcement made earlier this month to sell the plant of Caen if a buyer could not be found). in Colombelles, a total of 93 redundancies will be made at the firm's research centre, in Suresnes, 12 posts will be lost (out of a total of 95) and 6 out of 30 for the site of Sophia Antipolis.
In October, a restructuring plan announced by the company is to involve a total of 4,500 job cuts worldwide.
