Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Industrial fibre manufacturer Diolen announced on 20 August 2008 that it will close its main plant (spinning mill) in Emmen, resulting in the loss of 200 jobs. Two other departments (employing 185 in total) will be taken over by the chemical group DSM, but here also many jobs will not be saved.
