Supermarket chain Schuitema announced on 8 September 2008 that it is to cut 140 jobs at its headquarters. Another 175 temporary contracts will not be renewed. Recently, Schuitema was taken over by private equity firm CVC Capital, which sold 58 shops to other firms, followed by the sale of another ten shops, resulting in a 15% loss of turnover.
