Domo, a carpet manufacturer is to cut 200 jobs on its plants of Sint-Niklaas and Gent (Flemish region). In total, Domo employs 1350 people in Belgium. The management explained that the plan to restructure the company is the consequence of the decrease in the demand for carpets in Western Europe. This internal restructuring follows other closures and restructuring that concerned other textile manufacturers in the Flemish region. The reasons of these numerous restructuring processes are the intense foreign competition and the increase of the manufacturing and employment costs.
