On 24 September 2008, Bosch Diesel, a manufacturer of high-pressure pumps for diesel engines, announced 125 job cuts by the end of November 2008. On 23 October 2008 the company announced a further 300 job cuts to be implemented by the end of 2008. The job losses are attributed to the decline in customer orders. The largest employer located in Jihlava is also reducing the number of working days for tens of workers. A further staff reduction has been already negotiated with trade unions. The company currently employs 6,200.
