Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Pleas, a textile company, part of multinational Schiesser Eminence Holding since 1995, has announced the closure of two sites in Chotěboř and Čáslav with 200 jobs losses by 30 November 2008 due to the strong CZK exchange rate and increasing wage costs. This year, the largest clothing producer in the Czech Republic has already closed three sites. At the beginning of 2008 the company employed some 1,500 people in seven plants. According to the CEO, the company’s production will continue at the two remaining plants in Havlíčkův Brod and Polná with 950 workers.
