Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Tyco Electronics, provider of electronic components and systems for a wide range of industries, including automotive, appliance, aerospace computers and consumer electronics, has announced that three factories in France and Spain, resulting in around 850 job cuts, as part of a restructuring of the US group's European activities. 620 redundancies will be made in France following the closure of the sites of Chapareillan and Val-de-Reuil, that produce electronic components for the auto industry, and as a result of the merger of the administrative activities of the Cergy-Saint-Christophe and Pontoise factories. These actions are the next steps of the broader strategic initiative announced last year to streamline our operations and improve our productivity in all areas of our business, explained chief executive officer.
