Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Zakłady Mechaniczne “Tarnów”, producer of metal processing tools, machine guns and artillery pieces, plans to dismiss 100 employees by the end of 2008. The factory, a member of the Bumar group, is facing a difficult financial situation (it posted a net loss of PLN 2.2 million for 2007); the redundancies are part of the restructuring programme introduced by its directors. The company currently employ 870 workers.
