Description

Syngenta, a multi-national company that operates in the agricultural chemical sector, has announced that it is to create 50 jobs at its site in Grangemouth, Falkirk. The company currently employs about 270 people in the town. A spokesman said investment is set to be spent in Grangemouth over the next three years to accommodate an increase in the production of azoxystrobin, a key ingredient in fungicide Amistar, and is part of a GBP75 million investment in the company’s facilities in the UK. As of 27 July 2008, the start date for the new jobs is not known.

Mark Peacock, head of global operations for Syngenta, stated global food supply must increase by 50% over the next 20 years if the increase in demand is to be met. He stated ‘The use of crop protection products is an immediate and sustainable way to increase agricultural productivity. Today's announcement will enable Syngenta and the UK to play a leading role in providing growers around the world with the tools they need to protect and improve yield.’
