Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Organon, a pharmaceutical company, announced on 24 June 2008 that it is to cut 150 jobs in the Netherlands. The restructuring will mainly affect jobs in IT, sales and communication. Forced dismissals are not ruled out. The company announced in February 2008 a first wave of job losses after the take-over of Organon by Schering-Plough. The company expects yet more dismissals in the future.
