Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
In May, 2008, Electrolux got the permission to build a second household appliances factory in Żarów (the already existing Żarów-based plant produces dishwashers) which will employ 504 people by the end of 2009. The decision to build the new plant is part of Electrolux’ corporate plan of moving production to Poland. So far the company has closed down 8 out of 30 plants in Western Europe. It has lately announced that it’s going to reduce 750 jobs in its Italian refrigerator factories.
