Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Qimonda AG, a German producer of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) for a wide variety of applications, plans to create 150 jobs with the development of a new plant in Vila do Conde producing photovoltaic cells (applied in sun panels). As of May 2008, there is no information on when the new jobs will be created by. This investment results from a partnership between Qimonda and the Centrosolar Group. In a second phase (not yet approved) the business may expand and bring the total workforce at the new plant to 200. In the future, another three plants may be developed in the same area.
