Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
On 15 May 2008, Bechtel, an American engineering, construction and project management company, announced the creation of 400 new jobs for engineers (and not 300 jobs as previously announced) at its new unit in Warsaw. Employment at the new unit commenced in February and the 400 new jobs will be created by the end of 2010. The recruitment process started in February. The new unit deals with preliminary designs for Bechtel’s international projects. Bechtel makes airports and seaports, communications networks, defense and aerospace facilities, environmental cleanput projects, fossil and buclear power plants, mines and smelters, oil and gs foels development, popelines, roads and rail systems, refineries and petrochemical facilities.
