Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
SAS, the Scandinavian Airline Company half-owned by the governments of Sweden, Norway and Denmark, has announced that it is to cut 1000 full-time jobs in 2008 as part of a short-term cost-cutting programme. Like many national carriers, SAS has struggled over recent years to meet the challenge from low-cost rivals, inefficient operations and high prices for fuel. As of April 2008, it is not known the exact number of job losses in the affected countries - namely Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
