Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The UK Royal Air Force (RAF) has announced that it is to recruit 650 new workers at its site in Coningsby in Lincolnshire. The new workers will be recruited by April 2012, and will all be civilian, rather than military, personnel. Management at the site stated that the announced recruitment was due to the expansion of engineering facilites at the site. Station Commander Gp Capt Stuart Atha stated that the new jobs would be highly skilled and expressed optimism that the new jobs would contribute to local economic growth. 350 are currently employed at the site in Coningsby.
