Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Plastal, the Swedish supplier of engineered plastics to the automotive industry, has announced that it is to create 200 new jobs by opening a new factory in Swarzędz near Poznan, which will manufacture bumpers and plastic components for Volkswagen, Ford and Fiat. Construction works are scheduled to end in January 2009. In 2006, Plastal employed 7500 workers in 39 production plants in 13 countries, mostly in Europe. As of April 2008, it is unknown when either employment at the new factory will commence or the new jobs will be created by.
