Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Irish-owned convenience store group ADM Londis has agreed a deal to place 20 of its outlets at Texaco service stations. In a statement, Londis said the agreement would see turnover rise by an estimated €50 million and would lead to the creation of 300 new jobs. ADM Londis will invest €25 million in these new store developments.
It is understood that ten of the new stores will be opened at existing garages in the provinces of Munster and Connaught later in 2008, with the first two scheduled to open by this July, 2008. The remaining stores will open in 2009. ADM Londis has 370 outlets in Ireland (80 of which are on garage forecourts), and employs a total of 7,000 employees.
