Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Sharp, electronics company, has announced that it is to cut 500 jobs at its plant based in Łysomice near Toruń. 300 out of the 500 employees to be made redundant are temporary workers. Sharp currently employs 1,940 in Łysomice. The company intends to specialise in assembling 32 and 37 inch televisions. As of March 2008, there is no information on when the job cuts will be implemented by.
